Effective cancer control requires reliable data. In Switzerland, the National Agency for Cancer Registration (NACR) ensures that information from the cantonal cancer registries and the Childhood Cancer Registry is collated, evaluated and made available to the public, politicians and researchers. The NACR is run by the National Institute for Cancer Epidemiology and Registration (NICER) on behalf of the federal government.

About us

Cancer is a notifiable disease in Switzerland. Doctors, hospitals, pathology institutes and other medical service providers report information on cancer and precancerous lesions to the cantonal cancer registries or the Childhood Cancer Registry. There, the data is collected, recorded and forwarded once a year to the National Agency for Cancer Registration.
